Service and eligibility

Counter is a free website analytics service with no payments. guardianmesh Inc. operates it in Canada and is the registrant and administrator of webcounter.ca. A mailing address for legal service is available on request. You must be legally able to accept these terms and provide an email address you control.

Limits and accounts

A new account may operate up to three sites and admit up to 100,000 events in each UTC calendar month. Events over the limit may be rejected. Limits may change for future use after notice. You are responsible for account activity, credential security, accurate settings, and prompt reports of suspected compromise.

Your responsibilities and international use

You must be authorized to operate every registered site, have a lawful basis for analytics, and provide every notice or consent required where the site and its visitors are located. Registering a domain does not prove ownership. Do not submit secrets, message contents, or directly identifying personal data as analytics fields. You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy.

Counter can be accessed from several countries, but one configuration may not satisfy every local law. When Counter processes visitor data for you, the current Data Processing Agreement v2026-08-06-1 forms part of these terms and governs that processing. No additional checkbox is required.

Hosting and data location

Production, staging, backups, and monitoring run in one Canadian region on one dedicated server hosted by OVH in Montréal. The service has no geographic redundancy. Encrypted local backups protect against corruption, accidental deletion, and routine failure, but not the loss of the entire host or facility. They are not stored elsewhere.

Availability and suspension

The service is provided as available. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or protection from every failure. We may limit or suspend accounts to address abuse, security risks, unlawful use, or material policy violations. Where practical, action will be proportionate and its reason recorded in the lifecycle audit.

Uptime checks run from one Canadian region and do not guarantee multi-region availability. Results may differ elsewhere. Browser and email delivery depends on third-party networks and device settings, and a complete Webcounter.ca outage may prevent or delay alerts.

Deletion, liability, and risk

You may delete your account. Signing in restores it during the 30-day recovery window. After verified purge, encrypted backups may retain copies for up to 14 more days. No off-host backup exists, so an incident affecting the host can cause unrecoverable loss. To the extent allowed by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss caused by use or unavailability of this free service. This does not exclude liability that law does not allow the parties to exclude.

Changes, governing law, and contact

Material policy changes receive a new version, which public accounts must accept before continuing. If one provision is unenforceable, the others remain in effect. The laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada govern these terms and the DPA. The courts of Ontario have non-exclusive jurisdiction unless mandatory consumer, contract, or privacy law requires otherwise.
